A quick sketch of a piece I’m about to do.
Last weekend marked the first show at my new studio and adjoining gallery. Many thanks to all who were able to attend, and the artists involved. Below is a photo set of the exhibition, reception, and a few images from the studios of Jeremy Mayer and Nemo Gould (myself).

I FINALLY get to show everyone the 3D Motion Control Timelapse stuff that my friends Peter Chang, Brad Kremer, and Stewart Mayer shot in my studio. For those of you with 3D capabilities, this is available on YouTube 3D (yes, there is such a thing) here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0quUxvXtHPw&feature=youtu.be
This is part of a project that Peter Chang is working on. I’m so excited to be a part of this.

Another shot of the penguin, which is now with its new owner in NY.
Video interview from Bay Area Maker Faire 2011. I won’t ever let hair like that grow on my face again. I promise. I will also stop using bacon grease as hair product.

I’ve been revisiting this look with sketches a lot lately.

My mind keeps coming back to this drawing I did exactly 20 years ago when I was 19. I put my latest sculpture next to it and it’s easy to see why. I feel like I’m finally getting to the point that I can do things with typewriter parts that I’ve always wanted to do with traditional sculpture methods.
Wait until you see what’s next.
Thanks! No solder, no welds, no glue, no wire- just reassembly using only typewriter parts.
It’s assembly done without using any “hot” processes like welding or soldering. I don’t remember if I made it up or if I heard it somewhere.

I was going to wait to show this piece until I finished my book. The book is taking forever.

Bust V (Grandfather) is now done. Quality photos soon.
Progress on Bust V. Almost done.

I had a few pieces recently featured in the South African version of Popular Mechanics. I was in good company too. Jeremy Mayer was on the cover and had a two page spread! Metal masters Christopher Conte, and Lawrence Northey were featured as well.

I had the pleasure this Friday of meeting up with many fine sculptors (all members of AKA) at Benjamin Cowden’s exhibition at Float Gallery in Oakland.
From left to right: Aaron Ristau, CTP, Jeremy Mayer, Benjamin Cowden, Nemo Gould (myself).

I helped Jeremy Mayer move to his new studio yesterday. This image represents probably half of his typewriter collection.
Met Tom on Monday, then Nemo and Jeremy Thursday, Benjamin and Christopher Friday… WOW what a week
Thanks fellas be back ASAP
I’m moving into a new space in W. Oakland. A new studio is a rare and wonderful opportunity to start all over with eagerness to work, refined organization, and a total lack of clutter, which, as you may be able to imagine, I have problems with sometimes. I’ll be posting more once I’m moved in and settled.

I set up what’s left of my work at Nemo Gould’s showroom today to show it to a collector who’s rolling through town this weekend.
Check out Nemo’s Tumblr page to see the very cool stuff he’s been making lately.

Jeremy Mayer brought some of his work over to my studio today. We set up my show-room for a collector who is coming through town.
